Arrest of Osvaldo Aldrete-Davilla

*** BREAKING NEWS:
*** Arrest of Osvaldo Aldrete-Davilla prompts calls
for immediate release of Ramos and Compean.
Action Item below

Osvaldo Alrete-Davila, the drug smuggler whose testimony put
two decorated border agents in prison has been arrested for a
second marijuana load, and has lawmakers screaming for the
immediate release of Ramos and Compean!

In fact, at least two Congressmen are calling for a probe of
the U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton--who suppressed key evidence
in the case, gave this life-long smuggler medical attention
and immunity to bring more poison into the U.S.

Even though the appeal for Ramos and Compean is less than
two weeks away, Grassfire is joining key lawmakers who are
demanding Ramos and Compean be set free now!

We are urging EVERY member of our team to take
immediate action by sending personalized faxes to the President,
key Administration and other key personalities to

BRING RAMOS AND COMPEAN HOME!

This development is so compelling we are also calling for a full
investigation into Johnny Sutton’s behavior, and how he went to
outrageous lengths to protect the civil rights of an illegal
alien drug smuggler while turning a deaf ear and blind eye to
the truth about this case and the two innocent men who are now
serving decade long prison terms in solitary confinement.

Send a personal message to all those involved to release Ramos
and Compean by clicking here:

http://www.grassfire.org/9142/offer.asp?rid=12080678

This is our best chance to get our message heard,
and we must take full advantage of it by deluging these offices
with personal faxes calling for an immediate release.

To schedule your personalized faxes, simply click below, or if
you prefer not to use our FaxFire technology, send them yourself
by downloading our letters, and targets. Simply click here:

I think Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) said it best about this case.
"Sutton chose the wrong side of the border war. Now Ramos and Compean
are in jail based on what we know is the testimony of a professional
drug smuggler."

Help us bring Ramos and Compean home for Christmas by scheduling
your faxes right now:

Thanks so much for helping Grassfire right this tragic wrong!

is why after scheduling your FaxFire faxes I urge you to forward
this message to your friends urging them to take action as well!

Border Fence Funding Hoax of 2006 and 2007

As Grassfire.ore has previously reported, despite grandiose claims, our government has built just 5 miles of the the 854 miles of double-layer border fence mandated by the Secure Fence Act of 2006. (Go here for that report.) While this fact is outrageous in and of itself, it begs a question:Why?

If the law mandated a double layer fence covering 854 miles of fencing, then how come such little progress has been made?

That's because of another amendment put forward by Sen. Hutchison that said DHS would not have to build the fence. This Amendment (SA 3176) seems, at first glance, to support building a fence. It is entitied "Improvement of Barrier At Border" and states in Subparagraph A:

"(A) REINFORCED FENCING.--In carrying out subsection (a), the Secretary of Homeland Security shall construct reinforced fencing along not less than 700 miles of the southwest border where fencing would be most practical and effective and provide for the installation of additional physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors to gain operational control of the southwest border."

Note the phrase "where fencing would be most practical and effective." Basically, DHS has an opt-out clause built in. But it gets worse. Page Two of the Hutchison amendment then states:

"(D) LIMITATION ON REQUIREMENTS.--Notwithstanding subparagraph (A), nothing in this paragraph shall require the Secretary of Homeland Security to install fencing, physical barriers, roads, lighting, cameras, and sensors in a particular location along an international border of the United States, if the Secretary determines that the use or placement of such resources is not the most appropriate means to achieve and maintain operational control over the international border at such location"

Just in case Subparagraph A was not clear enough, Hutchison added Subparagraph D to leave no room for doubt that this amendment is intended to make sure DHS is under no legal obligation to ever build any fence, never mind the 854 miles of double-layer fencing mandated by the Secure Fence Act of 2006. "Notwithstanding" means "in spite of." Thus, Subparagraph D says that in spite of anything stated in Subparagraph A, DHS is under no mandate to build the fence.

In law, treason is the crime that covers some of the more serious acts of disloyalty to one's sovereign or nation. A person who commits treason is known as a traitor.

This is exactly what I think that some or most in Congress are doing. Possibly even higher up than that. These elected officials are lying to us and doing whatever they want for personal gain. Such as keeping their jobs. They continue to tell us what we want to hear then they do what they want to do regardless.

If you would like to get involved in this and send them your thoughts and disgust on this border fence go HERE.

This is also like the presidential debates going on. They want to be sure to tell everyone what they want to hear regardless of what they can actually do.

No Funding, No Peace

No Funding, No Peace

Funding delays in Congress are threatening to hold up the long-awaited U.N.-A.U. peacekeeping mission to Darfur. We cannot sit by and allow budget battles to get in the way of peacekeepers.

Tell Congress to approve this funding for Darfur ASAP.

Last month's peace talks in Libya were another step in the long-awaited political process that can bring peace to Darfur.

But real peace remains elusive. The peace process could take months or years to bear fruit. Meanwhile, violence continues to escalate, making the need for peacekeepers even more urgent.

Yet, political disputes in Washington over issues unrelated to Darfur are threatening to delay America's promised contribution to the Darfur peacekeeping mission.

The people of Darfur cannot afford any more delays. Click here now to urge your members of Congress to approve emergency funding before the end of the year.

Although the Sudanese government announced another cease-fire last week, they violated it within 24 hours with the bombing of a Darfuri village, once again demonstrating their intent to finish what they started in Darfur.

The president recently heeded your call and asked Congress to approve emergency funding for the Darfur peacekeepers. But Congress is wavering.

The people of Darfur need peacekeepers on the ground now. We can't allow emergency funding for this mission – and the countless lives it would help protect – to be held hostage by a congressional budget fight.

The United States must live up to its commitments to help return peace to Darfur. Click here to tell your members of Congress to approve funding for the peacekeeping mission before the end of 2007.

Then please click here to ask your friends and family to join you in urging Congress to bring peace to Darfur.

Thank you again for your efforts to help bring peace to the people of Darfur.

Best regards,

Colleen Connors

Upcoming $1.876 Billion U.N. Renovation

New York City's mayor says the United Nations building is such a hazard that he's threatening to suspend school visits unless conditions inside are fixed by early next year.
For the full story go HERE

This is probably one of the least of the U.N.'s problems. With all the money that the U.S. alone has given them over the years someone should have kept the building up to code.

What exactly does the U.N. do, other than give people that hate us a podium from which to degrade us and spew their hate for us?

Instead of a U.N we just need nations to get along.

Could almost 2 Billion dollars save Darfur? Why wouldn't the U.N. want to do that?
