How To Win The Nobel Peace Prize In Only 12 Days

Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize this morning. Over the last decade the only requirement to win the prize was that the nominee had to be critical of George W. Bush (see Al Gore, Mohamed ElBaradei and Jimmy Carter).



President Obama has broken new ground here. Nominations to win the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize ended February 1. The President took office only 12 days early on January 20.



Let’s take a look at the President’s first 12 days in office from his publicized schedule to see what he did to deserve a Nobel Peace Prize:



January 20: Went to a parade. Partied.



January 21: Asked bureaucrats to re-write guidelines for information requests. Held an “open house” party at the White House.



January 22: Signed Executive Orders: Executive Branch workers to take ethics pledge; Re-affirmed Army Field Manuel Techniques for Interrogations; Expressed desire to close Gitmo (how’s that working out?);



January 23: Ordered the release of federal funding to pay for abortions in foreign countries. Lunch with Joe Biden; met with Tim Geithner.



January 24: Budget meeting with economic team.



January 25: Skipped church.



January 26: Gave speech about jobs and energy. Met with Hillary Clinton. Attended Geithner swearing in ceremony.



January 27: Met with Republicans. Spoke at a clock tower in Ohio.



January 28: Economic meetings in the morning, met with Defense secretary in the afternoon.



January 29: Signed Ledbetter Bill overturning US Supreme Court decision on lawsuits over wages. Party in the State Room. Met with Biden.



January 30: Met economic advisors. Gave speech on Middle Class Working Families Task Force. Met with senior enlisted military officials.



January 31: Took the day off.



February 1: Skipped church. Threw a Super Bowl party.

So there you have it. The short path to the Nobel Peace Prize: Party, go to meetings, skip church, abort some fetuses, party some more.

Joe Wilson’s (R-S.C) outburst of "You lie!" during President Obama’s speech Wednesday night to Congress on health care wasn’t the most diplomatic statement, the president indeed made many claims that cannot withstand scrutiny. Let’s take a look at just a few: "Nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have. Let me repeat this: nothing in our plan requires you to change what you have." Several studies report that the proposal will cause millions to lose the coverage they have now. The Urban Institute estimates 47 million, and the Lewin Group as many as 114 million. That’s because Obama’s "public option" or co-ops and related schemes will quickly destroy the private insurance market. "There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false—the reforms I'm proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally." None of the bills requires people to verify their citizenship or identity before receiving taxpayer-subsidized benefits. Besides, proponents claim that "47 to 50 million Americans are without health insurance." That figure includes up to 11 million illegal aliens. "Under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions, and federal conscience laws will remain in place." The National Right to Life Committee has shown explicitly how the bill will lead to federal funds paying for abortions through any government-run health plan. For one thing, the Hyde Amendment, which bars federal funds for abortion, would not apply to the areas where the health funds would be disbursed. "As the Associated Press accurately reported in its August 5, 2009, analysis, ‘A law called the Hyde amendment applies the [abortion] restrictions to Medicaid . . . [But] The health overhaul would create a stream of federal funding not covered by the restrictions.’" "I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits—either now or in the future. Period." The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that ObamaCare would increase the federal deficit by $239 billion over 10 years and "would probably generate substantial increases in federal budget deficits" thereafter. A study by the Peter G. Peterson Foundation released this week found that after a decade, ObamaCare would increase federal deficits by another $1 trillion. Stop this Madness in the Making! The Wall Street Journal editorial page, which has had a tutorial nearly every day about what is actually in the 1,013-page House bill and the new Senate "compromise" version offered by Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), summarized the president’s Wednesday night goal: "Mr. Obama's speech was less about persuading the public than it was a political pep talk to this Beltway constituency. He hopes to buy enough political breathing space with a bump in the polls—however short-lived—to steel their nerves to power ObamaCare into law. The only way to stop it now is with a giant wave of popular opposition." Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive Ivy League education and your upscale lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don't understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and 'class', always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the 'blame America' crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer 'wind mills' to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves.

You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that lays the golden egg which provides the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use 'extortion' tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O'Relllys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean

North Carolina Congressman Walter Jones is sending yet another letter to the White House today, urging the president to take action on behalf of El Paso Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Alonso Compean. The men are serving 11 and 12 years respectively in a federal prison for shooting a fleeing illegal alien who was attempting to smuggle 743 pounds of marijuana into the U.S. The Mexican national was granted immunity for testifying against the agents.

Representative Jones is seizing on a report that shows the judge in the case did not allow the defense to present evidence to the jury of a second drug offense committed by the illegal alien. That revelation prompted yet more outrage from critics who say the government was more interested in prosecuting the agents than the drug smuggler.

to Ramos and Compean.

betrayed these agents and given preferential treatment
to a life-long, illegal alien drug smuggler for his

Why A Non-Binding Resolution

Congressional correspondent Sharyl Attkisson explained: “Think of it not so much as a real debate with a real chance of changing anything in the war on Iraq. It's more of a political dare -- a nonbinding resolution that Republicans are putting to a vote, calling for the U.S. to stand firm in Iraq and the war on terror, and who in their right mind would vote against that?”

So if it’s likely not going to change anything, why is it getting so much attention? The reasons are mostly related to the story’s political relevance, according to Attkisson. She wrote in an e-mail:

“It's getting attention because the war in Iraq and the war on terror are foremost on the minds of so many Americans. That's why Congress wants to debate it: to let constituents back home in this election year see that they are talking about the big issues and controversies.

The resolution that was proposed isn't the one Democrats would have chosen to debate; it's the Republicans' choice. Many Democrats would rather be voting on a timeline for troop withdrawal. Many Republicans, on the other hand, felt it was important to send a symbolic message of support for the war in Iraq and the war on terror.”

This sounds just like our politicians at work. Spinning their wheels on something that does not change a thing and they know it. It is all a big show for the elections coming up.

Al-Maliki: Iraq won't be battleground for U.S., Iran

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Iraq's prime minister said Wednesday he's sure Iran is behind some attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and he won't allow his country to be a battleground for the two nations.

"We have told the Iranians and the Americans, 'We know that you have a problem with each other, but we are asking you, please solve your problems outside Iraq,' " Nuri al-Maliki told CNN.

"We will not accept Iran to use Iraq to attack the American forces," al-Maliki said Wednesday in an exclusive interview with CNN. (Read more of al-Maliki interview)

"We don't want the American forces to take Iraq as a field to attack Iran or Syria," he added.

This is becoming the standard at the border. If an illegal Mexican is coming over the border and one of our border patrol agents lives are in danger they should not protect themselves. This is where it has gotten to. Mainly because of the two border agents that were sent to prison protecting our border.

On February 17, 2005, U.S. Border Ignacio Ramos (a former nominee for border patrol agent of the Year), and Jose Compean attempted to apprehend a fleeing illegal alien at our border.
